Chairman - Mr. Chris A. Alabi

He is the Chairman of the company and a graduate of Sociology from the University of Ibadan. An accomplished businessman with vast business interests that cuts across various sectors of the economy with many business activities that cuts across banking, maritime, farming, education etc. He started his career as a sales representative with the Nigerian Explosives and Plastics company Limited upon graduation and rose to the position of General Manager in 1977. After which he left the company to co-found Cakasa Nigeria Limited and was appointed Managing Director/Vice Chairman.

He is one of the founding fathers of Intercontinental Bank Plc and a former Chairman of Equity Bank and a Director of Union Trust Building Society Limited. He is a lover and promoter of education. He is also the Executive Chairman of Ronik International Limited, a conglomerate of educational institutions, the Chairman of Alabi Oyo Commercial Enterprises and Caronc Holdings.

Managing Director/Chief Executive
- Mr. Ayodele Thomas

Mr. Ayodele Thomas is the Managing Director/ CEO of Intercontinental Capital Markets Limited. Mr Thomas is a distinguished Investment Banker, with a career spanning over two decades in finance. He has prefaced both the public and private sectors. An Economics graduate with an M.Sc degree in Finance, Mr. Thomas joined Intercontinental Bank Plc in 1989. He managed the bank’s Investment Banking Group where he handled various Capital Issues. He has previously worked with Central Bank of Nigeria (1979-1981), ICON (Merchant Bankers) Limited and Federal Ministry of Industries, World Bank assisted Small Scale Industry Division.

Mr. Thomas facilitated the various business combination, processes, including mergers/acquisitions and strategic corporate Buy-in, leading to the emergence of the global Intercontinental Group (Intercontinental Bank Plc – Equity Bank Ltd - Associated Discount House – Gateway Bank Plc – WAPIC Insurance Plc – Intercontinental Securities Limited – Intercontinental Capital Markets Limited). He has attended courses on Managing Marketing with International Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland; International Capital Market training with Euro money, Surrey, England; Bank Risk Management with International Development Institute, Dublin, Ireland; Senior Management Programme with Lagos Business School, Wharton International Housing Finance Programme of Wharton University of Pennsylvania, USA amongst others.  

Non-Executive Director


Dr. Raymond Obieri is a non-executive director of the company. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management. He also holds an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and he is an alumnus of the International Institute of Management, Lausanne, Switzerland. He has attended various courses in banking including a 1981 major course in International Banking and Finance. Dr Obieri started his banking career with First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Marina Branch in 1964. He covered all commercial banking services and rose to the rank of Bills and Credits manager at Benin branch in 1974.

He joined NAL Merchant bank in 1976 as Assistant Manager, and rose to the rank of Senior Manager and Head in International Division in 1981, which made him the first Nigerian to head the Foreign Exchange Division of the Bank. In that position, he spearheaded NAL’s establishment of correspondence banking relationships with over 40 International banks. He joined First City Finance Company Limited and served on its Board before resigning to join three other promoters to float Intercontinental Bank in 1989. He is the Chairman of the bank from inception to date. He was the former President of Council of The Nigeria Stock Exchange. Non-Executive Director
- Dr. Erastus Akingbola

Dr. Erastus B. O. Akingbola is a non-executive director of the company. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Lagos in 1986. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London and Nigeria, the Nigeria Institute of Management and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria(ICSAN). He has over 34 years continuous banking practice embracing commercial banking, merchant banking, discount house operations, leasing and insurance. He started his banking career with Barclays Bank (Union Bank) in 1971 and rose to the position of assistant Accountant in 1977 before leaving for NAL Merchant Bank Limited as Executive Assistant in Operations department. He rose rapidly at NAL, becoming a Senior Manager in 1984. Dr Akingbola joined First City Merchant Bank Limited in 1987 as Controller Of Operations and was there in the capacity until 1989 when he was appointed the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Nigeria Intercontinental Merchant Bank Limited (now Intercontinental Bank Plc).

Dr Akingbola has attended several banking and executive management courses both locally and internationally in the USA(Harvard Business School), France, Switzerland, Singapore, Britain, etc. He was elected in 2004 to represent West Africa in the Executive Board of the African Bankers’ Forum, an arm of the AFREXIMBANK, which seeks to integrate private sector banking institutions in Africa for continental business finance. He also bagged the Kwame Nkrumah Award from the Nkrumah Foundation in Ghana 2004 as CEO of one of the leading financial institutions in Africa. Back home, he was the recipient of the Zik’s leadership Award. All these and many more were bestowed on Akingbola in 2004 alone in recognition of his pedigree in Corporate Governance. A man of many parts, Dr Akingbola belongs to several professional organizations and had served as President, Lagos Business School Alumni Association (1998-2000) and was a former President of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN). He was conferred with the national honour of Member of the Order of Niger (MON), by President Obasanjo in recognition of his monumental contributions to the development of the Nigerian Economy.

He was the former Group Chief Executive, Intercontinental Bank Plc, Chairman, Intercontinental Securities Limited, Chairman, Associated Discount House Limited, Chairman, Tropics Finance Limited and Director, Intercontinental Capital Markets Limited. He has been Chief Executive of Intercontinental Bank Plc since inception in 1989 and one of its four principal promoters and director of the bank.

- Engineer Hyacinth Enuha

Engineer Hyacinth Enuha is a non-executive director of the company. He holds a First Class Honours degree in Chemical Engineering from Rochester University, USA and a Masters of Science degree in the same discipline from Cornell University, Ithaca, USA. He is an Associate member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers. He is a chemical engineer with rich industrial and administrative background. Upon graduation, he joined Dupont De Nemours Inc., USA where he worked as a process engineer and Marketing Manager, before his appointment as an Executive Director of Aranla Industries Nigeria Limited, a manufacturing concern engaged in the fabrication of tools and spare parts for major oil companies in Nigeria.

He is also currently the Managing Director of Cakasa Nigeria Limited, Chairman, WAPIC Insurance Plc and one of the four principal promoters of Intercontinental Bank Plc where he holds a non-executive director position since inception.

- Chief Igwe Ojike

Chief Igwe Ojike is a non-executive director of the company. He earned a first degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan in 1965. thereafter, he proceeded to England and qualified as a Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. He has extensive and varied international experience as a Chartered Accountant.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. After working with Neville Russell & Co, London, and Peat Marwick, Casseleton Elliot & Co (now KPMG) Nigeria, he established his own firm, Ojike, Okechukwu & Co (Chartered Accountants) in 1975. He has served on the Boards of many education institutions and companies among which are the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan, Isiama Comprehensive Secondary School, Intercontinental Bank Plc and Intercontinental Securities Limited.

Non-Executive Director
- Mrs. Otaniyi

Mrs. Otaniyi a non-executive director of the company, holds a B.Sc degree in Economics from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). A chartered Accountant with a deep knowledge in funds management, she worked in leading Accounting firms (including Coopers and Lybrand before joining the bank in 1989. She was formerly an Executive Director of Intercontinental Bank Plc.

Before being named Executive Director of the Bank in 1999, she distinguished herself glowingly in various functions she was assigned to work on such as the Banks’s Treasurer/Fund Manager, Credit Disbursement and subsequently Control, and other related financial services.

Non-Executive Director
- Mr. Nelson C. Nweke

Mr. Nelson C. Nweke is a non-executive director of the company. He obtained a B.Sc degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan in 1979 and a Masters of Science degree in Industrial Relations from the same University. He had a stint lasting five years with the Federal Civil Service of Nigeria before joining Guinness Nigeria Plc in 1985. Mr. Nweke, a versatile manager of human resources, was one time the Executive Director, Operations and Corporate Services of Intercontinental Bank Plc. He came into banking in the 1980s, equipped with a rich administrative background.

He joined First City Merchant Bank in 1988, and a year after, joined Intercontinental Bank Plc. He has acquired proven experience in diverse areas of the Bank spanning human resources management, credit and marketing, capital markets and banking operations. A participant in several local and foreign banking courses, he is an authorized dealer of The Nigeria Stock Exchange

Divisional Head, Investment Banking and MIS

Mr. Deji Adegoke is Divisional Head, Investment Banking and MIS. He is a graduate of Economics from the University of Lagos and a Master of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Jos. He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
He holds a Masters degree in Economic majoring in money and finance. He has over 20 years cognate work experience. He started his career in 1985 with the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and later moved to lecture at the University of Jos in 1992, before joining Intercontinental Bank in 1998. while at Intercontinental Bank Plc, he handled various responsibilities spanning corporate banking and business development amongst others. He distinguished himself glowingly in various functions which made the bank to second him to ICML in March, 2003.

He has authored several published and unpublished works among which is “Nigerian Economics for University, Polytechnic and College of Education Students”. He has attended several courses locally and abroad among which are the Senior Management Programme with Lagos Business School, Real Estate and Mortgage Financening Emerging Economy by Housing Advocacy, UK and Global Executive Development Programme, Gordon Institute of Business, South Africa, Malaysia and Singapore.
He was the Head, Financial Advisory until his recent deployment to Asset Management and Controls

Divisional Head, Corporate Finance and Resource Management


Mrs. Abiola Macaulay is the Divisional Head, Corporate Finance and Resource Management. She is a graduate of Accountancy from Bayero University, Kano and obtained a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Ado-Ekiti. She is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and a talented and adept Capital Market operator with over 16 years cognate working experience in the Capital Market. Over the years, she has led numerous project teams, advising either the Nigerian government or Corporate Institutions on major financial transactions. She is primarily responsible for the group’s Capital Market activities.

In this capacity, she has managed numerous diverse transactions and mergers and acquisitions which are Wema Takeover, First Inland Bank merger, privatization of African Petroleum Plc, packaging of Crusader Insurance Plc, packaging of A-Z mutual funds, Intercontinental Bank Plc’s merger and public offer, etc. She fully understands the dynamics of professional due diligence processes and coordination issues peculiar to privatization. She has attended several local and foreign courses among which are Marketing Financial Services by Lagos Business School, Integrated Financial Management School by Euromoney South Africa, Private Wealth and Portfolio Management by Euromoney, London and International Housing Finance program by Wharton University of Pennysylvania USA.

Group Head, Legal and Corporate Services


Mr. Akintunde Ogunsan is Head, Legal and Corporate Services. He is a graduate of Law from the Ogun State University. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of management. He is a learned fellow and was called to the bar in 1993, and began his legal practice in the same year with Toye Coker (SAN) and Co and Siji Soetan and specialized in oil and gas law and admiralty Co. He joined EIB International Bank Plc, in 2001 where he was actively involved in the preparation and perfection of various legal documents, and was secretary to various board committees. He has over the years accumulated wealth of experience. He joined ICML in 2004. He has attended several training programs.

Divisional Head, Credit and Marketing


Mr. Olusola Soname is the Divisional Head, Credit and Marketing. He is a graduate of Accountancy from the Yaba College of Technology. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria and a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. He won numerous awards at academic and professional levels i.e ICAN. Prior to joining ICML in 2002, he has worked with several organization spanning various sectors of the economy. Some of the organizations are Continental Pharmaceutical Limited, Meritas Group of Companies, Adekunle Alli & Co (Accounting Firm), Federal Inland Revenue Service, Financial Spectrum Limited and Investment and Allied Company Limited. He was a part-time lecturer with Yaba College of Technology, Yaba and Dynamic Tutors (ICSA Lectures).

He handled Financial Accounting, Taxation, and Management Accounting. He developed accounting systems used in some of the organization he worked e.g Investment and Allied Company Limited. He has over 13 years cognate experience. He has attended several courses locally and abroad, among which are Back Office Management by Euromoney, S.A, IT Audit and Control (LBS, Lagos) and The Leadership Challenge with Positive Image of London, Lagos.
 
 
 

Head, Assets Management Group


Mrs Moronke Bamgbala is the Head, Assets Management Group. She is a graduate of Business Administration from Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University. She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. She is a seasoned banker with cognate experience in money and asset management. She started her career with Stanbic Bank Nigeria, a member of Standard Bank of South Africa before joining ICML in 2002.

She successfully pioneered the Assets Management Group and she is the visionary behind novelty creation of products in ICML. She has over nine years working experience and has attended various local an foreign courses like Marketing Financial Services by Lagos Business School, Customer Wealth Creation by Micheal Stevens, Lagos, Effective Private Banking by Micheal Stevens, Mastering Currency Trading by Webforex, South Africa. Mergers and Acquisition by Wharton School, University of Pennysylvania, USA.
 

Group Head, Project Monitoring Group

Mr. Simeon Onyejose is the Head, Mutual Funds Management Group. He is a graduate of Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan. He holds a masters degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Technology, Akure and an Executive Diploma in International Trade Management from the University of Lagos. He is an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. An Investment/Financial Analyst by profession. He worked with Setoni International Limited, Oasis Group and National Risks Funds Plc before joining ICML in 2002.

He has over fifteen years cognate working experience in Commodity investment, project finance/management, credit and marketing, risk management and private equity. He has attended several training programs like Effective Project Management by Lagos Business School, Loan Structuring and Documentation by H.Pierson, Advanced Credit Analysis and Corporate Account Management by Servexcel, India, SME Equity Finance by APDF/SME Finance Institute, USA, Private Equity and Venture Capital by Euromoney, United Kingdom and Infrastructural Financing by M.V. Incorporated.
 

Head, Financial Control Group


Mr Bidemi Oni is the Head, Management Information Systems of the company. He attended the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He thereafter attended the Lagos State University and is awaiting a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with specialty in Finance. His qualification also includes Associates Member, Institute of Chartered Accountants Of Nigeria (ICAN) and Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). He had previously worked with United Bank for Africa Plc.

In UBA, he was a Project member of the Exclusive Project Quest’ (Joint UBA McKinsey Inc Strategy Project) where he was involved in restructuring of departments mainly along lines of function, thus, eliminating several unnecessary units and merging of others and others and also fashioned out a more effective and efficient procurement system for the bank. He joined Intercontinental Capital Markets Limited in 2006. he is well vast in Branch operations, Head Office Operations and also specializes in Financial Control and Management Information Systems. He has attended various courses in Advanced Financial Analysis, Banking Operations, Professional Selling Skills amongst others, organized by IBFC Augusto & Co.

Head, Human Capital Management Group


Mr. Ejiro Sagua is the Head, Human Capital Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Benin. He was engaged in the management of a private business for a period spanning 7 years before joining ICML in August 2004. He has attended courses on Business Management, Accounting and Human Capital Management. He is currently responsible for managing the organization’s Human Resources
